977. Investigative Agencies

The Department of Justice relies heavily on the investigative and audit work of numerous federal and state law enforcement agencies committed to addressing health care fraud, each with different experience, expertise and program knowledge. This includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation and a variety of agencies dedicated to specific health care programs including, but not limited to, the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (Medicare/Medicaid); the Medicaid Fraud Control Units (Medicaid/patient abuse); Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS)(Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services -- CHAMPUS); and the Office of Personnel Management (Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan -- FEHBP).
