Telford Man Indicted On Child Porn Charges

PHILADELPHIA - Timothy James Kane, 32, of Telford, PA, was charged today by Indictment1 with one count of possession of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

If convicted, Kane faces a maximum sentence of 50 years imprisonment, a five year mandatory minimum term of imprisonment, a three-year term of supervised release, a $750,000 fine, and a $300 special assessment.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul G. Shapiro.
