Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC)

The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) was created by the United States Attorney to enhance cooperation and coordination among all federal, state and local law enforcement and prosecution officials within the District of Kansas. The LECC currently has approximately 650 members with representatives from 103 counties. Individual law enforcement members include officers and agents from state, local, and federal agencies, as well as investigative agents and prosecutors from the United States military. Many of the LECC members are law enforcement managers and executives who are in a decision making capacity with their agencies.

Through the LECC, the United States Attorney has taken an active role in addressing the training needs of law enforcement and fostering cooperation among the member agencies. The LECC sponsors at least one state-wide conference each year for the purpose of training and information sharing. In that regard, the LECC has collaborated with the Anti Terrorism Advisory Council, Joint Terrorism Task Force, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Institute for Intergovernmental Research, Police Executive Research Forum, Mid-States Organized Crime Intelligence Center, Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, Community Oriented Policing Office, Wichita State University, Victim Witness Program, federal law enforcement, and neighboring United States Attorney's Offices to offer innovative training to district law enforcement personnel. Scott Nace, the current LECC manager, has an extensive background in law enforcement, having served nearly 30 years as a law enforcement officer.
