The mission of the Administration Division is to provide consistent and effective administrative services and support to the employees and programs of the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
The Administrative Division is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive range of administrative services that support the mission of the United States Attorney's Office. The Division is managed by the Administrative Officer, who is the principal advisor to the United States Attorney and the District on administrative matters. The Administrative Officer provides guidance on the management and use of the District's financial, manpower, and physical resources, and on administrative policies, procedures, and practices. Administrative programs include: human resources management; financial management; space management; systems and information management; automated litigation support; case management and docketing; telecommunication services; procurement; mail; records; and document reproduction services.
The Finance/Budget Unit is responsible for the formulation, execution, and monitoring of the District's financial resources. Responsibilities include the obligation and prompt payment of vendor invoices, filing fees, and employee travel reimbursements as well as the processing of all time and attendance records. This Unit also manages and executes the Transit Subsidy Program for district employees.
The Human Resources Unit provides management and employee advisory services, recruitment and staffing, position classification, employee development, employee relations, benefits administration, personnel record keeping, and personnel and payroll action processing services. The Unit is also responsible for pay administration.
The Information Technology Unit is responsible for all automated systems. The office automation staff maintains the office network and provides support to the end users, arranges video teleconferences, manages the office internet and intranet sites and provides connectivity maintenance. The Unit also provides monthly statistical information to the U.S. Attorney on caseload data and USA-5 information.
The Litigation Support Unit produces courtroom exhibits and presentations. They are also responsible for scanning and database preparation. Training is provided to both attorneys and support staff on a variety of litigation software, i.e., Sanctions, PowerPoint, etc. The graphic art work produced by this Unit enables the Assistant United States Attorneys to provide outstanding visual aids to assist them in prosecuting and/or defending their cases in the district court.
The Support Services Unit is responsible for all logistical operations, including mail and courier services, physical security, records and files management, document reproduction, procurement of supplies, furniture, office equipment, expert witness contracts, property management, and telecommunications. They also develop and maintain service contracts for office equipment, coordinate space and facility needs, and provide other support that affects the everyday functioning of the office.
