CARMICHAEL ASSOCIATES INDICTED
ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA— Leura G. Canary, United States Attorney for the Middle district of Alabama, announced today that on July 18, 2007, William Bolding, also known as Cadillac, age 57, and Martell Watson, also known as Montell Watson, age 35, both of Montgomery, Alabama, were indicted for conspiring with each other and others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute over 1000 kilograms of marijuana. Witnesses testified during the Leon Carmichael trial that Bolding and Watson were members of the Leon Carmichael drug organization. According to testimony in that trial, Bolding and Watson helped Carmichael transport marijuana into the Montgomery area and distribute marijuana to others in the Montgomery area.
If convicted, Bolding and Watson will be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years imprisonment and a maximum of life imprisonment. Both men will further face a maximum fine of four (4) million dollars and a supervised release period of not less than five (5) years. The trial date is scheduled for September 17, 2007.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
ALABAMA RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT: RULE 3.6, requires "a" statement explaining that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
