GUILTY PLEA ON STASH OF EXPLOSIVES AND GUNS
Autauga Felon Admits to Guns, Silencers and Bombs
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA— Leura G. Canary, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, announced today that Adam Lamar Robinson, 44, of Deatsville, Alabama, pled guilty in U.S. District Court before United States Magistrate Judge Wallace Capel, Jr., Robinson pleaded guilty to charges of being a felon in possession of firearms, including firearm silencers. In addition, Robinson pleaded guilty to possessing destructive devices not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
According to the indictment, from an unknown date continuing up to and including June 15, 2006, Robinson possessed eleven firearms despite the fact that he had at least four previous felony convictions - including two prior burglaries. Federal law prohibits anyone convicted of a felony offense from possessing any firearms or ammunition. In addition, the indictment alleges that Robinson possessed at least four firearm silencers and another four “destructive devices.” Destructive devices include pipe bombs and improvised explosive devices, or “IEDs.” The indictment charges that some of the destructive devices contained steel shot, otherwise known as shrapnel.
Robinson faces a maximum of 10 years imprisonment for each count of the indictment. No sentencing date has been set yet.
This case was investigated by Special Agent Timothy Fitzpatrick of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Agent Al Maddox of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the United States Postal Inspection Service. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Verne H. Speirs.
