ECLECTIC MAN SENTENCED TO 115 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ATTEMPTED ARMED BANK ROBBERY

MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA— Keith James Sexton, age 38, of Eclectic, Alabama, was sentenced to 115 months in federal prison for aiding and abetting another in the attempted armed bank robbery of Mutual Savings Credit Union, located in Alexander City, Alabama, Leura G. Canary, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, announced today.

Sexton previously pled guilty to aiding and abetting Courtney Deon Orum on May 7, 2007, in the attempt to rob Mutual Savings Credit Union, a federally-insured credit union, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2113(a) and (d), and Title 18, United States Code, Section 2. Due to Sexton’s role in the bank robbery attempt, Chief United States District Judge Mark E. Fuller sentenced Sexton to a term of imprisonment of 115 months to be followed by 5 years supervised release. Chief United States District Judge Mark E. Fuller sentenced Sexton’s co-defendant, Courtney Deon Orum, to 30 months imprisonment on December 5, 2007.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Alexander City Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jerusha T. Adams.
