BIRMINGHAM MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR DISTRIBUTION OF COCAINE
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA: LARRY DEMOND WILLIAMS, 33, of Birmingham, was sentenced today in United States District Court to LIFE in prison for one count of distribution of powder cocaine and one count of distribution of more than 50 grams of “crack” cocaine.
On November 27, 2006 and December 5, 2006, D.E.A. Task Force Agents met with a confidential informant to make arrangements for a “buy” with WILLIAMS. During the first buy in November of 2006, WILLIAMS physically handed the drugs to the confidential informant. On the second buy in December of 2006, WILLIAMS sent a female to sell the drugs to the confidential informant. The drug deals yielded a total of 62.8 grams of powder cocaine and 60.8 grams of “crack” cocaine. WILLIAMS has prior drug convictions in Jefferson County, Alabama. One conviction was in 1995 for Possession/Receipt of a Controlled Substance, and another conviction was in 2001 for Trafficking in Cocaine.
WILLIAMS was found guilty in November, 2008 by a jury. The case was tried before U.S. District Court Judge U.W. Clemon.
“William’s drug dealing days are over. It is unfortunate that this man didn’t learn from earlier encounters with the state court system,” stated United States Attorney, Alice H. Martin.
This matter was investigated by Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Joseph Montminy and Gregory Dimler, on behalf of the United States.
