U.S. Attorney’s Office Press Briefing at 2 p.m. today
United States Attorney Joyce White Vance will hold a press briefing at 2 p.m. today at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Birmingham, 1801 Fourth Ave. North.
The U.S. Senate on Friday confirmed Vance as U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. Vance would like to welcome media representatives and answer questions about the responsibilities and vision of her office.
Vance is one of the first five people, and the first woman, nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate as U.S. attorneys. She began prosecuting criminal cases in the Birmingham office in 1991 as an assistant U.S. attorney. She moved to the office’s Appellate Division in 2002 and became chief of that division in 2005.
