ANNISTON MAN INDICTED FOR RECEIVING
AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
BIRMINGHAM, AL - DAVID CRAIG BRYAN, 35, of Anniston, was charged in a two-count indictment filed today at U.S. District Court in Birmingham. United States Attorney Alice H. Martin announces today that BRYAN has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Possession and Receipt of Child Pornography.
Count 1 of the indictment charges BRYAN with possessing child pornography that has crossed state lines via computer. Count 2 of the indictment charges BRYAN with distributing images of child pornography via the internet.
The maximum sentence for possession of child pornography is not more than ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The charges of distributing child pornography carry a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum sentence of 20 years, plus a $250,000 fine.
“The internet has made it easy for those persons interested in child pornography to obtain that which they seek. Let this be a warning, however, that members of law enforcement lurk in the internet as well, waiting to catch anyone trading in the heart-wrenching images child pornography portrays,” stated U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin.
The ABI/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Laura D. Hodge is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.
Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
