CALHOUN COUNTY MAN INDICTED FOR RECEIVING AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

BIRMINGHAM, AL - BEAU CHRISTOPHER MALLORY, 27, of Oxford, Alabama, was charged in a two-count indictment filed today at U.S. District Court in Birmingham. United States Attorney Alice H. Martin announces today that MALLORY has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Possession and Receipt of Child Pornography.

Count 1 of the indictment charges MALLORY with possessing child pornography that has crossed state lines via computer.  Count 2 of the indictment charges that Mallory received images of child pornography.

The maximum sentence for possession of child pornography is not more than ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.  The charges of receiving child pornography carry a minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum sentence of 20 years, plus a $250,000 fine.

“People who seek out child pornography on the internet re-victimize the children who are sexually abused in the images.  This creates a never ending cycle of abuse for the abused children.  It is a goal of the United States Attorney’s Office to stop this crime one defendant at a time,” stated U.S. Attorney Alice H. Martin.

The ABI/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated this case.  Assistant United States Attorney Laura D. Hodge is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.

Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges.  A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
