                           CALHOUN COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CRIMES

            BIRMINGHAM, AL - United States Attorney Joyce White Vance of the Northern District of Alabama and Roy Sexton, Special Agent in Charge, United States Secret Service announced today that CHRIS D. MEYER has been indicted by a federal grand jury for possession and receipt of child pornography.

            MEYER, 47, of Anniston, AL was charged in a two-count indictment filed today at U. S. District Court in Birmingham.

            Count One charges Meyer with possession of child pornography on a computer hard drive.  Count Two charges Meyer with receiving images of child pornography.

            Investigators from the Alabama Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated the case.  Assistant United States Attorney Laura D. Hodge is prosecuting this case.

            Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges.  A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
