GADSDEN MAN INDICTED BY FEDERAL GRAND JURY
FOR BANK ROBBERY IN BOAZ, ALABAMA

            BIRMINGHAM, AL - United States Attorney Joyce White Vance of the Northern District of Alabama and  Patrick J. Maley, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation announced today that CHRISTOPHER INGRAM has been indicted by a federal grand jury for bank robbery and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence. 

            INGRAM, 43, of Gadsden, Alabama was charged in a two-count  indictment filed today in the United States District Court in Birmingham.

            Count One charges Ingram with robbery of the Superior Bank in Boaz, Alabama on July 13, 2009.  Count Two charges Ingram with possessing a firearm during a crime of violence.

            The maximum sentence for Count One is 25 years in prison. The sentence for Count 2 is not less that 5 years in prison to be served consecutively to Count One.  Both Counts carry a maximum fine of $250,000.

            This case was investigated by Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Gadsden Office, in conjunction with Boaz Police Department and Northeast Alabama Safe Streets Task Force.  Assistant United States Attorney Angela R. Debro is prosecuting this case.

            Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges.  A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
