JUDGE SENTENCES MULGA MAN TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CAR-JACKING
U.S. District Judge James Hancock on Tuesday sentenced Thomas Traver Wood, 31, of Mulga, to 10 years in prison for a January 2009 car-jacking, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance.
Wood pleaded guilty to the car-jacking in August and admitted he assaulted a woman in the parking deck at 18th Street and 5th Avenue North in Birmingham on Jan. 27, 2009, and took her 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Hancock ordered Wood to serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
This matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in conjunction with the Birmingham and Bessemer Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Biggers prosecuted the case for the government.
