MOBILE, Ala. - Steven Brian Hicks, 49, of Pensacola, Florida, was sentenced today in federal court. Smith pled guilty to conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and attempting to manufacture methamphetamine. Judge William H. Steele sentenced Hicks to 60 months followed by a supervised release term of 5 years and imposed drug abuse treatment as a condition of his supervision when he is released from prison. Hicks and co-defendant Gary Taylor were arrested in August of 2008 in a trailer off Burroughs Lane in Baldwin County, where they had just finished manufacturing an ounce of methamphetamine. The judge ordered Hicks to make restitution for the cost of cleaning up the lab site to the Drug Enforcement Administration in the amount of $2,632.50, to be paid jointly and severally with his co-defendants. The judge also ordered Hicks to pay a $200 special assessment.

The investigation was conducted by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Baldwin County Drug Task Force, and Drug Enforcement Administration’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force. It was prosecuted by Gloria Bedwell in the United States Attorney’s Office.
