HUALAPAI NATION TRIBAL MEMBER SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR ASSAULT

PHOENIX – On Sept. 5, 2012, Eva Autumn Flower Vaughn, 25, of Peach Springs, Ariz., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell to 50 months in federal prison. On June 7, 2012, Vaughn pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to the plea agreement, Vaughn and her co-defendants, Lodema Maylene Mahone and Leeshana Tyzell Matuck assaulted the victim, who they knew, by punching, kicking, and striking her with an object. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained serious bodily injuries, including severe swelling and bruising, and injuries to her head, face, and body.

Mahone and Matuck are scheduled to be sentenced before Judge David G. Campbell on September 17, 2012.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Hualapai Nation Police Department and the FBI. The prosecution is being handled by Christina J. Reid-Moore, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
