COLORADO RIVER MAN SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS FEDERAL PRISON

PHOENIX – Today, Jesse Thomas Quijada, 21, of Parker, Ariz., and a member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow to 97 months federal prison and lifetime supervised release. Quijada pleaded guilty on July 16, 2012, to aggravated sexual abuse, and consented to be proceeded against as an adult.

According to court documents, in June 2009, Quijada had a t-shirt tied around his face when he burst into an adult woman’s home around 6:00 a.m. He locked the door behind him and ordered the woman into her back bedroom, where he sexually assaulted her. Quijada then demanded money from the woman and left. At today’s sentencing, Judge Snow called the crime “horrific.” Quijada was 17 years old at the time of the offense.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Jennifer E. Green, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
