Docket #: 1:10-cr-00382 (T. Glenn)

FRESNO, Calif.—United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that Timothy Dwayne Glenn, 44, of Bakersfield, pleaded guilty today to one count of receipt of child pornography before United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii.

“This case provides yet another cautionary reminder for child predators who mistakenly believe they can preserve their anonymity by sharing child pornography over the Internet,” said Michael Toms, resident agent in charge for ICE’s HSI in Bakersfield. “Consider that the original case lead that ultimately resulted in the identification of the defendant in Bakersfield was actually developed by the Australian federal police. HSI will continue to work closely with our colleagues here and around the world to ensure that cyberspace affords no protection for those who seek to prey upon and sexually exploit our nation’s children.”

Glenn is scheduled for sentencing on March 21, 2011. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory sentencing factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

This case is the result of Operation Direct Connect, an extensive series of investigations by the San Joaquin Valley’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, specifically the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Offices located in Bakersfield, and Kansas City, Missouri. Assistant United States Attorney Brian W. Enos is prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, PSC mobilizes federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov or call the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California and ask to speak with the PSC coordinator.
