Docket #:1:10-CR-246 LJO

FRESNO, Calif. — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that Cesar Perez Sanchez, 39, of Earlimart, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill to 12 months in prison, for conspiracy to possess, transfer, produce and sell fraudulent U.S. immigration and social security identification documents. Sanchez pleaded guilty on September 3, 2010.

According to court documents, Sanchez and co-defendant Maria Ines Rangel-Lemus, conspired to possess, transfer, produce and sell fraudulent immigration and identification documents. Prospective purchasers would meet Rangel-Lemus and request that social security cards and lawful permanent resident cards be made with their picture and biographical information. Sanchez would acquire the picture and biographical information, return to his residence to produce the documents, and then provide Rangel-Lemus with the fraudulent documents.

Rangel-Lemus pleaded guilty on November 15, 2010. She is scheduled for sentencing on February 25, 2011.

This case is the product of an extensive investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Assistant United States Attorneys Susan Phan and Ian Garriques prosecuted the case.
