Docket #: 1:11-cr-00137-LJO

FRESNO, Calif. – United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced today that Tina Louise Washington, 41, of Riverbank, pleaded guilty today to subscribing a false tax return.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mark J. McKeon is prosecuting the case.

According to the plea agreement, Washington understated her income on tax returns filed for 2004 and 2005 by at least $197,599. The total tax loss to the government was $60,183.

Washington is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Lawrence J. O'Neill on June 24, 2011. She faces a maximum statutory penalty of three years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
