            FRESNO, Calif. — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that today United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii sentenced two-time convicted felon, Jacob Moya, 25, of Fresno, to 27 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for being a felon in possession of ammunition.

            According to court records, on January 20, 2011, Moya was found in possession of live rounds of ammunition in violation of federal law. In 2010, Moya was convicted of a felony for possessing a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number and was sentenced to 15 months in prison Moya was on court ordered supervision for the 2010 conviction when he violated the court’s conditions of supervision by not only possessing ammunition, but also admittedly selling marijuana.

            This case is the result of Project Safe Neighborhoods—a project designed to reduce illegal drugs and violent crimes with the particular focus of cracking down on gang activities. Project Safe Neighborhoods brings to bear a coordinated effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies including the Fresno Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Yasin Mohammad prosecuted the case.
