Docket #: 1:12-cr-0006-LJO

FRESNO, Calif. — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced today that a federal grand jury returned an Indictment charging Jose Pimental, a.k.a. Daniel Lugo Gascot, 23, of Manteca, with manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Pimental was involved in large-scale manufacturing and trafficking of methamphetamine.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the California Highway Patrol, and the Manteca Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Yasin Mohammad is prosecuting the case.

If convicted of the drug charges, Pimental faces a mandatory minimum prison term of 10 years and a maximum term of life in prison, and a $10 million fine. If convicted, the sentence will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

The charges are only allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
