FRESNO, Calif. — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that Eliodoro Guzman Arreguin, 26, of Caruthers, pleaded guilty today to transfer of fraudulent immigration and social security identification documents.
According to his plea agreement, in May and June 2011, Arreguin met customers in public locations in Fresno County and took orders for false identification documents. Arreguin obtained the requested documents elsewhere and returned to the customer with the documents to complete the sale.
This case is the product of an extensive investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Assistant United States Attorney Ian Garriques is prosecuting the case.
Arreguin is scheduled to be sentenced on April 23, 2012 by United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii. The maximum statutory penalty he faces is 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
