            SACRAMENTO, Calif. — United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that Edgardo Solorio-Camacho, 27, of San Jose, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. to 14 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

            According to court documents, between January 13, 2011 and March 1, 2011, law enforcement conducted a series of undercover buys of methamphetamine from Solorio-Camacho and his co-defendants Daniel Salinas, 31; Juan Oscar Martinez-Arias, 23; and Antonio Sanchez-Gaona, 25. On March 1, 2011, Solorio-Camacho and his co-defendants attempted to sell two pounds of methamphetamine at a parking lot in Stockton. Agents arrested the defendants and searched Solorio-Camacho’s vehicle. They found nearly two pounds of methamphetamine on the floor in the backseat on top of a stolen, loaded 9 mm handgun.

            Charges against the co-defendants are pending. Their next court date is set for May 31, 2012. The charges against them are only allegations and they are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

            In sentencing Solorio-Camacho, Judge England said that the presence of a loaded gun increased the seriousness of this crime.

            This case is the product of a joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the METRO drug task force. Assistant United States Attorney Michael D. Anderson prosecuted the case.
