Oregon Man Who Traveled Through Merced With 12 Pounds of Methamphetamine Is Sentenced

FRESNO, Calif. — Jesus Jimenez Rincon, 39, of Portland, Ore., was sentenced today to three years and 10 months in prison, by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.
This case was the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the California Highway Patrol, and the Merced Multi-Agency Narcotic Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Yasin Mohammad prosecuted the case.
According to court documents, on November 30, 2010, Rincon was stopped by CHP officers for traffic violations while driving through Merced County. A drug-detection canine found narcotics hidden in a secret compartment in Rincon’s vehicle. Officers found 12 pounds of methamphetamine, four pounds of pseudo-ephedrine pills used to manufacture methamphetamine, and $3,000 cash. Rincon had $735 cash in his pockets. Rincon pleaded guilty on May 6, 2012.
