Sacramento Man Sentenced in Fresno for Trafficking in Counterfeit Media

FRESNO, Calif. — Abel Fabela Zaragoza, 46, of Sacramento, was sentenced today by Chief United States District Judge Anthony W. Ishii to two years and six months in prison for trafficking in counterfeit music CDs and motion picture DVDs, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced today.

According to court documents, between January 2010 and August 23, 2010, Zaragoza sold counterfeit music CDs and motion picture DVDs with counterfeit labels, documentation and packaging to the public in Sacramento. On August 23, 2010, approximately 546 counterfeit motion picture DVDs and 18,299 counterfeit music CDs were seized from Zaragoza’s possession.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force. Assistant United States Attorneys Henry Z. Carbajal III and Brian W. Enos prosecuted the case.
