FRESNO, Calif. — Aldo Cruz-Trujillo, 26, a Mexican national, pleaded guilty today to the production and sale of fraudulent government identification documents, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.

According to his plea agreement, between November 2011 and February 2012, Cruz-Trujillo met with potential customers in various locations in Bakersfield to take orders for fraudulent documents. Cruz-Trujillo produced and sold completed sets of documents to customers for approximately $120 per set. Cruz-Trujillo sold and produced six or more sets of false identification documents that included alien registration cards and social security cards.

This case is the product of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Assistant United States Attorney Christopher Baker is prosecuting the case.

Cruz-Trujillo is scheduled to be sentenced on December 17, 2012 before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill. The maximum statutory penalty he faces is 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
