Tulare Man Pleads Guilty to Document Fraud Operation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, December 10, 2012

Docket #: 1:12-CR-0130 AWI

FRESNO, Calif. — Eretzandert Morales-Lozano, 26, of Tulare, pleaded guilty today to conspiring with others to produce and sell false identification documents, U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner announced. He is the third to plead guilty out of nine defendants charged earlier this year in connection with a fraudulent document operation in Fresno, Tulare and Madera Counties.

According to the plea agreement, between January 2012 and April 2012, Morales-Lozano participated in a conspiracy to produce false identification documents at various fraudulent document mills. Morales-Lozano and his co-conspirators took customer orders for fraudulent documents, produced false identification documents, and delivered and sold them to customers for between $90 to $124 for a set of documents. The sets included a forged social security card and an alien registration card.

This case is the product of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Fresno with assistance from the Fresno County Sherriff’s Department’s Air Support Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Baker is prosecuting the case.

Morales-Lozano is scheduled to be sentenced on March 4, 2013, before U.S. District Judge Anthony W. Ishii. He faces a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
