SAN FRANCISCO – United States Attorney Joseph P. Russoniello announced that Gilbert Haro was sentenced today by the Honorable Susan Illston to 10 years in prison for Receipt of Child Pornography. This guilty plea is the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Mr. Haro pleaded guilty on July 18, 2008. In pleading guilty, he admitted that on various dates between January 12, 2007 and September 9, 2007, he knowingly downloaded over 2,000 images of child pornography to his computer via the internet using the Google Hello program. He further admitted that these images included images of sexual acts involving penetration of prepubescent children.
Mr. Haro, 41, of South San Francisco, was indicted by a federal Grand Jury on February 19, 2008. He was charged with one count of Receipt of Child Pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2).
Denise Marie Barton is the Assistant U.S. Attorney who is prosecuting the case with the assistance of Rosario Calderon. The prosecution is the result of a six month investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
