SAN FRANCISCO - Jason Ribeiro was sentenced yesterday to 10 years in prison, and ordered to forfeit $30,348 in cash seized by law enforcement at the time of his arrest, United States Attorney Joseph P. Russoniello announced.
Ribeiro, 32, of San Francisco, pleaded guilty on May 15, to a single count indictment charging him with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(viii). According to the plea agreement, Ribeiro admitted to knowingly possessing, with the intent to distribute, 222 grams of methamphetamine.
The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Charles R. Breyer. Judge Breyer also sentenced the defendant to a five year period of supervised release.
Katherine Dowling is the Assistant U.S. Attorney who is prosecuting the case with the assistance of Rosario Calderon. The prosecution is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the San Francisco Police Department.
