LAW STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
Law student positions are available year-round at the United States Attorney's Office, Denver, Colorado, for both the Civil and Criminal Divisions. We accept work-study, internships, externships, fellowships, and volunteers. Presently, there are no paid positions (except for work-study). The primary duty of the law student is research and writing. Assignments include, but are not limited to, responsive motions, dispositive pleadings, memoranda of law, and appellate briefs. The position allows the student to become familiar with the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, the local rules of practice for the United States District Court, and the local and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure. In addition to research and writing, students may attend depositions, meetings with agents, and accompany the attorneys to observe court proceedings.
Law students should apply up to six months before a desired start of work date, as it takes time for a Security Clearance background check to be conducted. The United States Attorney's Office is an equal opportunity employer.
To apply for a law student position, please send a short cover letter, resume and writing sample. Hiring decisions are made largely on the quality of the writing sample. Information should be sent to:
