CONNECTICUT RESTAURANT OWNER WHO EMPLOYED ALIENS IS SENTENCED Nora R. Dannehy, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that ANDREW ADAMES, 43, of Oxford, was sentenced today by Senior United States District Judge Peter C. Dorsey in New Haven to three years of probation for unlawfully employing aliens. ADAMES also must perform 150 hours of community service and forfeit $150,000 to the Government. ADAMES pleaded guilty to the offense on June 30, 2009. According to court documents and statements made in court, ADAMES owns and operates Señor Pancho’s restaurants in Southbury and Prospect, and formerly owned Señor Pancho’s restaurants in Monroe, Litchfield and other locations. Between January 2008 and January 2009, ADAMES employed at least 10 individuals at his restaurants knowing that they were in the country unlawfully and were not authorized to work. This matter was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) and the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Douglas P. Morabito. | |
