BROAD BROOK MAN FOUND WITH HALF-KILO OF CRACK IN HARTFORD SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that CYRIL WEBB, 39, of Mill Pond Road, Broad Brook, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing crack cocaine.  On July 8, 2009, WEBB pleaded guilty to one count of possession with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).

According to court documents and statements made in court, on May 1, 2008, Hartford Police officers drove into a parking lot located on Charlotte Street in Hartford after receiving information that drug dealing may be taking place there.  WEBB spotted the officers as he was exiting his own vehicle and began to run.  The officers followed WEBB and apprehended him after he fell to the ground.  A subsequent search of WEBB’s person revealed approximately 484 grams of crack cocaine in his pants pocket.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hartford Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael E. Runowicz.
