MERIDEN MAN SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR DISTRIBUTING CRACK

David B. Fein, United States for the District of Connecticut, announced that DAMIEN OSBORN, 33, of Meriden, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release.  On April 26, 2010, OSBORN pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, five grams or more of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).

This matter stems from a joint investigation into narcotics trafficking that was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Meriden Police in 2009.  The investigation, which included controlled purchases of crack cocaine, cocaine and firearms, resulted in the arrest  and federal prosecution of 13 individuals for drug trafficking and/or firearms violations.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on September 10, 2009, an individual working with law enforcement called Trevoy Marrow on the phone and arranged a purchase of crack cocaine from Marrow.  Marrow instructed the individual to meet him that evening at the intersection of Lewis Avenue and Springdale Avenue in Meriden.  The individual working with law enforcement, accompanied by an undercover officer, met Marrow at that location and the three of them drove to the area of New Hanover Street and Alcove Street in Meriden.  Marrow then exited the car, met with OSBORN, obtained a quantity of crack cocaine from OSBORN, and then returned to the car where he gave approximately 6.1 grams of crack cocaine to the purchaser in exchange for $300.

Marrow has pleaded guilty to the same charge and awaits sentencing.

This investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Meriden Police Department.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dave Vatti.
