49 U.S.C. 80501 [formerly 15 U.S.C. 1281 and 1282
transferred effective July 5, 1994] Damage to Property Being Transported in
Interstate or Foreign Commerce
| |
This statute specifically forbids the actual or attempted willful
damage to property being transported in interstate or foreign commerce while
such
property is in the control of a commercial carrier by rail, motor vehicle,
or
air. Water transport is not included since offenses involving cargo aboard
certain vessels are already proscribed by 18 U.S.C. § 2271 et
seq.
A judgment of conviction or acquittal on the merits in any state or federal
court
is a statutory bar to prosecution for the same act(s). See 49 U.S.C.
§ 80501(b).
