A recent report by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute of San Francisco shows that the Columbia metro area had the second highest rate of job growth in the technology sector – 28.2% -- in 2011, compared to the national average of 2.6% . Page 14 of the report shows that Columbia has the fourth highest rate – 40.1% -- over the five year period from 2006 to 2011, compared to the national average of 1.4%.
