
Polk County Man Sentenced In Drug Overdose Death
Tampa, Florida - U.S. Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announces that U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara today sentenced Daniel Aleman (25, Mulberry), a/k/a "Hotdog," to eight years in federal prison for distributing narcotics (morphine) that resulted in the September 5, 2009, death of another person. Daniel Aleman plead guilty on June 24, 2011.
According to court documents, on the evening of September 4, 2009, Daniel Aleman, the victim, and others attended a party in Polk County. Later that evening, Daniel Aleman purchased a bottle of morphine from another individual and gave some of the morphine to the victim. As a result of taking the morphine, the victim overdosed during the morning of September 5, 2009.
This case was investigated by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Matthew Hart Perry and W. Stephen Muldrow.
