Stolen Prescriptions Bring Federal Drug Charges
Orlando, Florida - United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announces the filing of a criminal complaint charging Apopka residents Terrie Jaime (42), Harrold Riddle (24), and Eric Riddle (23) with knowingly and willfully conspiring to possess with intent to distribute Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. If convicted, they each face a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.
According to the criminal complaint, Jaime stole prescriptions from her former employer, an Apopka physician, and conspired with Harrold and Eric Riddle, and others, to obtain controlled substances from local pharmacies and distribute them. Jaime personally obtained more than 8,000 units of Hydrocodone and Oxycodone. An examination of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program profile showed that individuals linked to prescriptions stolen by Jaime were responsible for obtaining approximately 50,000 controlled substances from December 14, 2009 through January 26, 2012. Jaime’s illegal activities were brought to the attention of law enforcement by an Apopka pharmacist. The pharmacist became suspicious after calls to the Apopka physician’s office to verify prescriptions were being handled by Jaime.
A criminal complaint is mrely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
This case is part of a coordinated investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Volusia Bureau of Investigation (VBI), and the Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO), which has resulted in numerous arrests of individuals for state and federal drug related offenses.
