Victim Witness Services

Crime Victim Compensation

Some crime victims, particularly victims of violent crime, may be eligible for victim compensation. The Office of the Attorney General for the State of Florida administers the Crime Victim Compensation Program. This program provides compensation for such out-of-pocket expenses as medical bills, lost wages, funeral bills, and counseling related to the impact of the crime when there is an injury or death, or threat of injury to the victim. Compensation is paid only when other financial resources, such as private insurance, worker's comp, and/or offender restitution, do not cover the loss.

To determine if you may be eligible for this program, to obtain further information concerning available benefits, and to download brochures and/or claim request forms, please visit the Office of the Attorney General, Victim Services Division, website at: http://myfloridalegal.com/victims.
