SEVENTEEN SANTA ROSA COUNTY RESIDENTS ARRESTED ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES
Pensacola, Florida - Acting United States Attorney Thomas F. Kirwin, Northern District of Florida, announced that seventeen (17) people were arrested yesterday on a federal criminal complaint alleging that they violated federal narcotics laws. The criminal complaint unsealed today alleges that members of this group were responsible for the distribution of cocaine and cocaine base (also known as “crack” cocaine) in the Milton-Bagdad area of Santa Rosa County over the course of the past four years.
Those who made their initial appearances in federal court today before United States Magistrate Judge Elizabeth M. Timothy included: Jeremy Bembo, 22; Clifford Cooper, 54; Herman Fails, 55; Marco Green, 38; Tremain Hamilton, 23; Paul Neal, 34; Sandy Penton, 37; Jeffrey Rich, 25; Jamel Shields, 19; Deshric Slack, 29; Jay Thampi, 27; and Katrisa Thomas, 31. Five subjects will make initial appearances in federal court on Friday, July 11, 2008: Adrian Cawthon, 28; Marvin Ducksworth, 28; Demirus McCray, 22; Michael McQueen, 34; and Steven Pinkney, 34. Three additional subjects named in the complaint have not yet been arrested.
This case was investigated by Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, United States Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the United States Attorney’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg.
