GUILTY PLEA ENTERED FOR TAX VIOLATIONS
United States Attorney Maxwell Wood announced that on June 6, 2007 in the United States District Court, Columbus, Georgia, Robert D. Ressmeyer, age 68 of Columbus, Georgia plead guilty to two counts of Failure to File Federal Income Tax Return in violation of Title 26 United States Code, Section 7203. This offense carries a maximum penalty of 1 year imprisonment and a $100,000. fine on each count. The charging document, case number 4:07-CR-27, to which Ressmeyer plead guilty alleged that he failed to file federal tax returns for the tax years 2000 and 2003. The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Group, Macon, Georgia and the prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney George Christian.
Ressmeyer will be sentence at a date to be determined by the Court before the Honorable Judge Clay D. Land upon completion of a pretrial sentencing report.
