ELEVENTH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS
AFFIRMED THE CONVICTION OF W. DEXTER HARRISON
The United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, Maxwell Wood, announces the ruling of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirming the conviction and sentence of W. Dexter Harrison.
Harrison was convicted in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia of conspiracy to commit arson and mail fraud, arson, mail fraud and making misleading statements with respect to a federal offense. Harrison was sentenced by United States District Judge Hugh Lawson in July of 2006 to fifteen years imprisonment with restitution in the amount of $400,000 and a $75,000 fine.
The investigation of Harrison’s illegal activities resulted from a joint endeavor with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agents Brad Donnelly and Dennis Butler, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agents Mike Murphy and Mike Walsingham. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Leah McEwen and Jim Crane. The opinion upholding Harrison’s conviction United States of America v. W.
