FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY
CITY OF HOMERVILLE, GEORGIA ENTERS PLEA OF GUILTY
ALBANY: Maxwell Wood, the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia announced that SUSAN H. WYATT, former Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Homerville, (“HACH”) Georgia, pleaded guilty on September 27, 2007, in the United States District Court for the Valdosta Division, before the Honorable W. Louis Sands, to a one count information charging her with the felony offense of embezzlement from an organization that receives federal funds. The plea agreement states that from 2001 to 2006 Wyatt embezzled funds totaling $110,418.00 from HACH via its checking account or credit cards.
This offense is a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 666 and carries a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a maximum fine of $250,000, up to three (3) years supervised release and a mandatory assessment fee.
Wyatt remains out on bond pending sentencing which is expected to take place in approximately two months at a date to be determined by the Court.
This case was investigated by the Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Valdosta Office and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Crane.
