COCAINE TRAFFICKER CONVICTED
United States Attorney Maxwell Wood, announced that Richard Ben Glawson, age 42, resident of Macon, Georgia, was convicted on October 31, 2007, after a three (3) day jury trial.

Glawson, also known as Terry Green, was charged in a seven count indictment with distribution of crack cocaine and marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and escape from the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Glawson sold crack cocaine to an informant on June 03, 2003, June 04, 2003, June 20, 2003 and June 23, 2003

During negotiation for the drug purchases, evidence revealed that Glawson arranged to sell a 9 mm firearm to the informant and Glawson carried through the sell of the firearm to the informant on July 03, 2003.

In response to a warrant by a Federal District Judge, Glawson was placed in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on December 27, 2006.  Evidence at trial showed that Glawson escaped from the Law Enforcement Center on December 31, 2006, by switching identities with another inmate.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Glawson faces a sentence of 262-327 months in prison without parole.

The case was investigated by agents from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives  (ATF), United States Marshals Service and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Charles Calhoun and Verda Colvin.

Mr. Wood stated “the potential sentence in this case reflects the dedication of his office to pursue and prosecute those who ponder in illegal drugs and illegally possess firearms.”
