Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon
Maxwell Wood, United States Attorney announces that on January 10, 2008, JIMMY FITZPATRICK, JR., age 29, of Macon, Georgia was sentenced before Honorable Hugh Lawson, Chief Judge, United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, to 63 months in federal prison without parole for violations of Title 18 United States Code, Section 922(g)(1), Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.
Fitzpatrick entered a guilty plea on December 30, 2004. A lawful search warrant was executed by agents with the Middle Georgia Drug Task Force at the home of Fitzpatrick. A search of the home revealed ammunition which was found throughout the house. Fitzpatrick admitted he did possess the ammunition and that said ammunition was manufactured outside the State of Georgia; and, therefore that said ammunition had been transported in interstate commerce. Fitzpatrick had previously been convicted of Possession of Cocaine, Bibb County Superior Court Case Number 98R49532, September 8, 1999.
The case was investigated by the Middle Georgia Drug Task Force and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Verda Colvin.
