DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE APPOINTS
ACTING UNITED STATES ATTORNEY
FOR THE MIDDLE DISTRICT OF GEORGIA

United States Attorney Max Wood is pleased to announce the Department of Justice’s appointment of G.F. “Pete” Peterman, III as Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia effective 12:01a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009.  This will be Mr. Peterman’s second appointment as Acting United States Attorney having performed the same duties in 2000 and 2001.  He will serve in this position until the presidentially appointed United States Attorney is named.

Mr. Peterman is a Mercer University School of Law graduate and his extensive tenure with the U.S. Attorney’s Office began in May of 1990 as a Criminal Assistant United States Attorney followed by his appointment as Criminal Division Chief in September of 1996 and First Assistant United States Attorney in June of 1998.  Mr. Peterman’s expertise in the practice of law as well his outstanding management skills with the U.S. Attorney’s Office are especially significant to the Department of Justice in selecting him for this prestigious appointment.
