U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo announced today that a federal jury convicted Kose Lasalle, age 26, a resident of California. Mr. Lasalle was convicted of conspiracy to possess and distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.
In November, 2006, a parcel destined for Honolulu from California was intercepted by Drug Enforcement Task Force agents. A search of the parcel resulted in the discovery of approximately one pound of methamphetamine “ICE”. Investigators learned that the Defendant Lasalle had traveled to Honolulu and then had the parcel sent to a particular address which he had obtained.
Lasalle will be sentenced on September 17, 2007, before U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in jail and a maximum sentence of up to life, along with fines totaling up to $4 million.
The case was investigated by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Airport Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan M. F. Loo handled the prosecution.
