The United States Attorney's Office for Hawaii announces that U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo, has been awarded the Honor Award for Public Service by the National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP).

NACOP is a non-profit organization, representing approximately 60,000 county, state and federal law enforcement officers in command positions nationwide. It maintains the American Police Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida, and they honor and recognize chosen law enforcement officers worthy of national recognition for their accomplishments in public service or their acts of valor.

Their special Honor Award for Public Service is given to those who have exhibited outstanding service to the public, and whose leadership skills have been significant in reducing crime in their communities.

Recently, the National Association of Chiefs of Police - Awards Committee, selected U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo of Hawaii for this prestigious honor and award because of his leadership in Hawaii's law enforcement, his tireless efforts in Hawaii's war on drugs, and for his extensive community service in the state.

On September 7, 2007, at a Joint Law Enforcement and Military Representative Conference in Honolulu, Kubo was presented with the award by Deputy Chief Paul Putzulu and Assistant Chief Michael Tucker of the Honolulu Police Department.
