U.S. ATTORNEY RECEIVES VISITOR ALOHA SOCIETY OF HAWAII’S OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

The United States Attorney's Office for Hawaii announces that U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo has received this year’s Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) Outstanding Community Service Award.

The mission of VASH has been to share Aloha with visitors who are victims of a crime or other adversities while in Hawaii. VASH provides follow-up assistance and support in an effort to create a positive memory of their stay in our islands. For 10 years, VASH has touched thousands of visitors' lives. It also has a hospital visitation program and a bereavement program to assist visitors in crisis. All of their services are complimentary.

The award was given to Kubo for his partnership with VASH in promoting their mission, prosecuting those who would prey on our visitors, assisting victims who are visitors to our islands, and for his help in co-chairing VASH’s statewide conference.

"I am honored and humbled in receiving this outstanding community service award, because I play only a small part in showing all our visitors that our state is full of Aloha, despite their ordeal. All of us truly want them to have an everlasting positive experience about Hawaii. I am so very thankful to be recognized by VASH for showing Aloha and protecting our tourists," said Kubo.
