18 U.S.C. § 1584

1. obtains the labor or services from a person by

2. threat of harm or physical restraint, abuse or threatened abuse of the legal process, or

3. schemes, plans, or patterns intending to cause the person to believe will suffer serious harm if person does not comply.

Fines, imprisonment or not more than 20 years, or both; if death or kidnapping, up to life imprisonment.

 

 

Forced Labor
18 U.S.C. § 1589

1. obtains the labor or services from a person

2. by threat of harm or physical restraint, or by abuse or threatened abuse of the legal process.

Fines, imprisonment of not more than 20 years, or both; if death results, up to life imprisonment.
Slavery or Involuntary Servitude/Trafficking
18 U.S.C. § 1590

1. knowingly recruits, harbors, transports, provides, or obtains by any means,

2. any person for labor or services

3. in violation of peonage, slavery, involuntary servitude, or forced labor law.

Fines, imprisonment of not more than 20 years, or both; if death results, or involves kidnapping, aggravated sexual abuse, or attempts of these, imprisonment for life.
Sex Trafficking of Children, or by Force, Fraud, or Coercion
18 U.S.C. § 1591

1. knowingly recruits, entices, harbors, transports, provides, or obtains by any means a person, or benefits from participating in such a venture

2. in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce or within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.,

3. knowing that fraud, force, or coercion will be used to cause the person to engage in a sex act, or that the child is not yet 14 years old.

If by force, fraud, coercion, or the person trafficked is under 14, fines and up to life imprisonment; if not by force, fraud, coercion, and person trafficked was between 14 and 18, fines or imprisonment of not more than 40 years, or both.
Transportation Generally
18 U.S.C. § 2421

1. knowingly transports any individual,

2. in interstate or foreign commerce,

3. intending that the individual engage in prostitution or other criminal sexual activity.

Fines, imprisonment of not more than 10 years, or both
Coercion and Enticement
18 U.S.C. § 2422(a)

1. knowingly persuades, induces, entices, or coerces an individual,

2. to travel in interstate or foreign commerce

3. to engage in prostitution or other criminal sexual activity.

Fines, imprisonment of not more than 20 years, or both; if using mail or any facility or means of interstate commerce, and person coerced is under 18, fines and imprisonment not less than 5 years or more than 30 years.
Transportation of a Minor
18 U.S.C. § 2423(a)

1. knowingly transports a minor

2. in interstate or foreign commerce

3. to engage in prostitution or other criminal sexual activity.

Fines and imprisonment not less than 5 years and not more than 30 years.
Travel with Intent to engage in Illicit Sexual Conduct
18 U.S.C. § 2423(b)

1. travels in interstate or foreign commerce

2. to engage in illicit sexual conduct with another person.

Up to 30 year sentence.
Engaging in Illicit Sexual Conduct in Foreign Places
18 U.S.C. § 2423(c)

1. , a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident

2. travels in foreign commerce and

3. engages in illicit sexual conduct with another person.

Up to 30 year sentence.
Facilitating Travel for Sex with a Minor
18 U.S.C. § 2423(d)

1. arranges, induces, procures, or facilitates travel

2. in interstate or foreign commerce

3. knowing the purpose of the travel is to engage in sex with a minor

4. for financial gain.

Up to 30 year sentence.
